The Votorantim Group received, on November 26, the Agostino Rocca Corporate Integration Award (Prêmio Integração Empresarial Agostino Rocca), granted by the Argentine-Brazilian Trade Board to companies and entrepreneurs that stood out in the interchange between both countries in 2008.
The award is the acknowledgement to the creation of Votorantim Siderurgy, company that has nearly five thousand employees and operations in three countries: Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, with considerable plans for growth. Albano Vieira, Superintendent Officer of Votorantim Siderurgy, was honored on behalf of the Group.
Agostino Rocca
Italian engineer and entrepreneur, Agostino Rocca radicated in Argentina after World War II and, in 1945, he founded the company that would become one of the largest conglomerates in the country. The Techint Group is comprised of companies in the construction, engineering and iron and steel sector, and it has considerable operations in Brazil by means of Techint do Brasil – currently an important construction company for standout projects.
It was due to Argentine Techint’s strong operation in Brazil - always cutting edge, developing companies and integrating businesses - that the Argentine-Brazilian Trade Board chose Agostino Rocca as a benchmark and model for future awards.
