On December 15th, 2008, 77 students celebrated the conclusion of the course “Basic operation in Steel Metallurgy by VS (Votorantim Steel Metallurgy)’s Steel Opportunity Program. These students graduated in the program’s Specific module, which has such classes as Basic Mechanic Maintenance, Basic Industrial Automation, Steel Metallurgical Processes, among others. The graduation ceremony was held at SENAI in Resende, Rio de Janeiro.

The Steel Opportunity Program aims to form local handwork and contribute for the professionals’ qualification and their inclusion in the labor market. “With the steel metallurgy boom, I saw the chance to re-insert myself in this market”, said graduate Fernando Ghirlinzoni. The program relies on the partnership with SENAI to select the applicants and develop the course plan.
