Developing projects of Social Responsibility, Votorantim Siderurgia aims to evolve youths of the lower income population of the Fluminense’s South region, enabling the apprentice and practice of citizenship and also stimulates the youths to plan their professional trajectory.
Besides the already sponsored projects, in 2009, - Future in Our Hands, Connect and Music at School - VS and the Barra Mansa City hall are investing on Creating Culture-Producing Dreams. The project will graduate 100 youths of C, D and E classes, aging between 15 and 29, in Cultural Management, with music, dance, visual arts, theater and arts classes.
Throug theatrical sketches, the new artists group presents the goals of the project, at the launching that was on March, 23rd at the Events Center of Barra Mansa unit. “Creating Culture aims the social inclusion, but build and fulfill dreams of each one who receive the benefit.” says Renata Cipriano, general coordinator of the project. The release of this project counted on the presence of Votorantim Siderurgia management and local authorities as councilmen and district secretaries.
Sérvio Túlio Antunes, general manager of Barra Mansa Unit , meant to share the pride felt supporting initiatives as Creating Culture “We believe that professional qualification and access to culture are the best goods that someone could ever have. So, we invested in projects that valuate youths and offer opportunities of life progress” says. Emiliana Melchior, social promotion secretary who represents the City hall, adds: “ Projects like this make us believe on better future for everybody”.
Flávio Martins, Communication and Social Responsibility of Barra Mansa Unit analyst is one of the responsible for the project in VS. “ The goal is graduate youth and make them cultural agents in their communities. So, besides the opportunities of professional future they may help another youths in similar conditions”
Cultivating opportunities
In 2007, when was idealized, Creating Culture did an experimental action at Volta Redonda, in partnership with Votorantim Cimentos. It was successful, so the group decides to expand to beneficiate other regions. “ We mapping some areas of Barra Mansa to figure out the communities that need most our support” tells Renata.
After evaluation, were selected four neighborhoods of the district: Saudade, Vila Maria, Vila Nova e Vista Alegre. Defined the locations, the project was presented to VS and City hall. “ We expect that at Barra Mansa Creating Culture overcomes the expectations of the community, as happened at Volta Redonda”, says the coordinator.
