The 2010 Best and Biggest Edition of Exame magazine has fantastic news for Votorantim Group. VS, the newest company of the Group, in its second year of activity, reached the second place among the top 100 steel and metal companies in the country.

The magazine annually edits the top 100 ranking of the best and biggest companies in the country, including 10 sectors of activities. Exame magazine is a national and global reference for Brazilian economy and business environment in the country.

“We have fought the global crisis with audacity and focused on our business. By being in the second place in the top companies ranking, we are showing that our teams are committed to offer our clients the best product, in shortest time and with the best negotiation. It is rewarding to find that our results are a consequence of the work at each Unit and that we are being recognized for it,” celebrates Albano Vieira, VS’s general manager.

Companies are evaluated by means of a set of criteria defined together with Fipecafi (Institute Foundation of Accountancy, Actuarial and Finance Research of the University of São Paulo). The performance of the companies is assessed based on a comparison of the results obtained in terms of growth, profitability, financial health, market share and productivity by employee. Each criterion has a specific weight and at the end all grades are put together, showing the winners for each category.

To produce the rank, Exame magazine has assessed data from over three thousand companies. All of them have published their financial statements in the Official State Government Gazette, are public companies or have sent their results for analysis by Best and Biggest.
